Spotlight Programs Board has many ways for you to get involved!
We have three different types of membership within Spotlight:

Spotlight produces a lot of large-scale events and we are always looking for students to help ensure that those events run well and are successful. Volunteer with us, it’s simple!

Two things are essential to volunteering with Spotlight:

  • You must fill out our short and sweet online Volunteer Application
  • You must attend a volunteer training.
  • You cannot volunteer at an event without attending volunteer training.

Once you have completed a volunteer training, you are eligible to attend a volunteer meeting where you sign up for upcoming volunteer opportunities.

Spotlight has eight different committees. Committees are a great way to be more involved in Spotlight as they meet regularly throughout the year, depending on upcoming events or assignments. Since committee members are expected to commit to more time and effort than volunteers, an individual is only allowed to be on one committee per academic year.

The application process takes place each semester. In the fall semester, you will be able to learn more about each committee, the committee’s director and how to get in involved at our annual Meet & Greet.

Spotlight not only has volunteers and committees, but is also comprised of an executive board which includes a president, vice president, twelve committee directors and the Cinefest managers.

Executive board members work with committee members and advisors to choose events to plan and implement. They also negotiate with agents, reserve venues, coordinate event logistics, create budgets and carry out events.

Executive positions are paid a monthly stipend of $400 during fall, spring and summer for a time commitment of approximately 10 hours a week. Executive board members are expected to attend trainings and events in addition to planning events over the summer.
